LAND! LAND! I SEE LAND!
I can now see the island of Faial in the Azores.
I am heading towards the port of Horta to get some rest.
I get to meet other sailboats in the harbor and share stories.
I’m so excited!

Me dirijo hacia el puerto de Horta para descansar.
Voy a conocer a otros veleros en la marina y compartir nuestras historias.

Did someone move the Azores Islands?
I keep sailing faster and faster but I still don’t see them. They tell me that we are almost there. It is just a matter of days?
I am so excited. I have never been in the Azores. Other sailboats tell me they are beautiful islands. This would be my first time.
… and I cannot wait!

Sigo veleando más y más rápido pero todavía no las veo. Me dicen que ya casi llegamos. Solo es cuestión de días?
Estoy tan emocionado. Nunca he estado en las Azores. Otros veleros me cuentan de que son muy hermosas. Esta será mi primera vez.

Thursday afternoon dolphins surrounded me!
They must have been fifty dolphins. They swam with me for several hours.
The dolphins told me that they too were going to the Azores to visit some friends.
So cool!
Jueves por la tarde delfines me rodearon!
Debió haber como cincuenta delfines. Ellos nadaron conmigo por varias horas.
Los delfines me contaron que ellos también iban a las Azores a visitar a unos amigos.
Que chévere!
This afternoon I enjoyed another beautiful sunset!
The skies were red like fire and the sea was like a silver dish.
It was time for all the stinky people aboard to clean themselves.
Now it smelled good. Now we can all rest, for tomorrow is another day…
Esta tarde disfruté de otro hermoso atardecer!
Los cielos rojos como el fuego y el mar como un plato de plata.
Era la hora para que todos los olorosos abordo se lavaran.
Ahora si huele bien. Ahora podemos todos descansar. Mañana es otro día.
Tonight the moon was out briefly. It is hiding again from me behind the clouds. The moon is very special for me because it brings me closer to all my friends.
No matter where you live you can see the same moon I saw tonight. With some luck you and I can be looking at the same moon at the same time.
That is why, every time I see the moon I think of all of you, my friends, and wonder what you are doing. Are you behaving? Are you doing your chores? Are you being good for mom and dad? I am sure you all are.
In just a few days it will be a full moon. So if you see the moon this weekend, I want you to think of me. Because just then, I’ll be thinking of you…
Esta noche la luna salió un ratito. Ahora se esta escondiendo de mí detrás de las nubes. La luna es muy especial para mí porque me acerca a todos mis amiguitos.
No importa donde vives, tu puedes ver la misma luna que yo vi esta noche. Con una poco de suerte tu y yo pudiéramos estar viendo a la misma luna al mismo tiempo.
Es por eso, que cada vez que veo a la luna yo pienso en todos vosotros, mis amiguitos, y me pregunto que estaréis haciendo. Os estáis comportando? Estaréis haciendo vuestras tareas? Seréis buenos para papá y mamá? Estoy seguro que sí.
En unos pocos días será luna llena. Si veis la luna este fin de semana, quiero que penséis en mi. Porque quizás en ese instante, yo estaré pensando en ti.
Through a lot of hard work I have gone around the bad weather.
Now I sail full speed, all my sails up, straight for the Azores.
It is still raining, but it doesn’t matter because I’m sailing fast.
The wind is coming from behind me and that is how my great, great, Grandfather used to sail.
I love it!

Ahora veleo a toda velocidad, mis velas todas desplegadas, rumbo a las Azores.
Todavía llueve, pero no importa porque estoy veleando rápido.
El viento viene detrás de mi y hace es que mi tatarabuelo veleaba.

Well young friends, I’m soaking wet from all the rain!
You may think that sailboats don’t care about rain, after all, we live on the water and rain is just that, more water. But too much rain for too long makes us droopy and sad.
I spent the entire last night under heavy rain. Even birds where flying and landing on me to rest. At one point, I had seven birdies all cuddle up with me trying to rest from all the rain and the cold.
Today, it is still raining a little but we are heading towards warmer weather and better winds, and that is what I love: to sail!
Bueno amiguitos, estoy empapado de toda la lluvia!
Debéis pensar que a los veleros no nos importa la lluvia, ya que después de todo, vivimos en el agua y la lluvia es solo más agua. Pero mucha lluvia por mucho tiempo nos hace tristones.
Me pasé la noche entera bajo lluvia muy fuerte. Hasta los pájaros volaban hacía mi para buscar resguardo conmigo. Llegué a tener siete pajaritos descansando conmigo de toda la lluvia y el frió.
Hoy todavía esta lloviendo un poco pero nos dirigimos hacia clima más cálido y con mejores vientos. Eso es lo que me gusta a mí, velear!
Last night was beautiful: no clouds and full of stars.
There wasn’t that much wind, which I normally don’t like. But the stars all around me made up for it. It was so peaceful.
I even got to close my eyes a little and dreamed. You know, when you see pictures at night with your eyes closed. I dreamed of other returning home to Spain, of other sailboats like me sailing together in a race.
I would like that very much. Maybe one day, so I dream, I sleep…
La noche fue hermosa: sin nubes y llena de estrellas.
No había mucho viento, lo cual normalmente no me gusta. Pero me compensaba que las estrellas eran tan hermosas, tan tranquilo.
Hasta pude cerrar mis ojos un poco y soñar. Soñar es como ver películas con tus ojos cerrados. Soñé con regresar a España, con otros barcos veleando juntos en una carrera.
Eso me gustaría muchísimo. Quizás algún día pueda, así que sueño, duermo…
Last night I went surfing!
I don’t think my passengers thought that it was as fun as I did, but Sloopy had a blast going down those big waves.
They didn’t let me have all my sails, something about my going too fast. Even so, I did go fast and while it was fun, now I’m a little tired.
So, I’ll try and take it easy today. Later friends…
Ayer por la noche fui a surfear!
Yo no creo que mis pasajeros pensaron que era tan divertido como yo creo, pero Sloopy lo pasó cheverísimo surfeando esas olas grandes.
No me dejaron llevar todas mis velas, algo relacionado con ir muy rápido. Sin embargo, yo fui muy veloz y a pesar de que lo pasé muy bien ahora estoy un poco cansado.
Así que hoy, voy a tratar de tomármelo con calma. Hasta luego amiguitos…
Do you get mad when things don’t go quite your way?
I did last Thursday evening. Because the wind wasn’t going the way it normally does and I couldn’t go the way I wanted to go.
You know what sailboats do when they get mad? We count… and we wait, and we count some more…
While I counted and waited, I forgot that I was mad. Later the wind cooperated and I was able to go the way I wanted.
Now I’m going full speed East to the Azores Islands.
Os ponéis bravos cuando las cosas no salen como queréis?
Yo me puse bravo en Jueves por la noche. Porque el viento no iba por donde normalmente va y yo no podía ir en la dirección que yo quería.
Sabéis que hacen los veleros cuando se ponen bravos? Contamos… y esperamos, y volvemos a contar…
Mientras contaba y esperaba, me olvide de porque estaba bravo. Más tarde el viento coopero y pude ir por donde quería.
Ahora voy a toda velocidad rumbo a las Islas Azores.
Two more surprises on Wednesday.
I got to do two things I really enjoy: sail with a spinnaker and swim with dolphins.
My spinnaker is a beautiful white and blue sail that has the drawing of two inverted quotation marks facing each other. It makes me go fast even on light wind. Plus I look really cool with it.
Later in the afternoon a bunch of dolphins began to swim alongside of me. They were beautiful, we played and talked with each other for just a little bit because they were in a rush to go have dinner nearby.
I hope I see them again and get to play longer next time. They were fun!
Dos sorpresas más el Miercoles.
Me toco hacer dos cosas que me gustán mucho: velear con globo y nadar con delfines.
Mi globo es una vela azul y blanca con el dibujo de dos comillas invertidas opuestas entre ellas. Hace que valla rapido aún con poca brisa. Ademas, yo me veo super chevere con ella.
En la tarde, unos delfines nadaron a mi lado. Eran preciosos, jugamos y hablamos por un ratico porque ellos tenían prisa para ir a comer la cena.
Ojala, que los pueda volver a ver y jugar más tiempo con ellos. Eran muy divertidos!
Tuesday was a happy day for all of us!
I don’t know if you knew, but I love to fish and even better I love to eat what I fish.
So with the help of expert fisherman José Manuel we fished Bonito and we ate it Sahsimi style.
My tummy is happy and I was happy to see everyone aboard having such a good time.
Maybe tonight I get to see a stary night and get to ask tons of wishes for my friends all over.
El Martes fué un día muy feliz para todos nosotros!
No se si vosotros sabiais, pero a mi me encanta el pescar. Es más me encanta también comer lo que pesco.
Asi que con la ayuda del pescador experto José Manuel pescamos Bonito y nos lo comimos estilo Japonese.
Mi estomago estaba feliz y yo estaba muy contento de ver a todos abordo pasandola muy bien!
Quizas hoy en la noche pueda ver una noche llena de estrellas y desear muchos cosas bonitas para mis amigitos y amigitas.

The third day of our voyage
We have had rough seas and big waves the past two days and I was a little too busy just sailing and keeping everyone safe.
We are all a little tired, but happy to see the sun out and have nice weather again

El tercer día de nuestro viaje
Hemos tenido mucho mar y viento los últimos dos días y estaba un poco ocupado veleando y manteniendo a todos seguros.
Estamos tomos un poco cansados, pero contentos de ver el sol y tener buen tiempo nuevamente.

Today I want to tell you about the Azores Islands. They are nine little islands in total that are part of a country called Portugal.
When I sail across the Atlantic Ocean I will stop at the Azores Islands to rest a little. It is a long trip all the way from the United States to these islands. Do you know how many days it will take me?
I will give you a clue. It should be a number between 10 and 20.
So I want you all to write the number of days you think it will take me to get to the Azores and have your mom or dad send Sloopy an email. When I get to the Azores, I will publish the names of everyone who got it right.

Hoy quisiera contaros sobre las islas Azores. Son nueve islas chiquitas que forman parte de un país llamado Portugal.
Cuando cruce el Atlántico veleando voy a parar en las islas Azores para descansar un poco. Es un viaje muy largo desde Estados Unidos a estas islas. ¿Sabéis cuantos días me va a tomar llegar a las Azores?
Os voy a dar una pista. Debe ser un numero entre 10 y 20 dias.
Así que quiero que escribáis el numero de días que pensáis me va a tomar llegar a las Azores y dárselo a mama o papa para que lo manden a Sloopy por email. Cuando llegue a las Azores, voy a publicar el nombre de todos aquellos que acertaron correctamente.
